Bellefontaine Cemetery has a vast amount of history within its gates. Buried there are those who are both famous and infamous. Names such as Sara Teasdale, Adolphus Busch, Thomas Hart Benton, and William S. Burroughs. A place with such provenance should be matched with a look, feel, and voice that complements the stories of those who reside there in perpetuity. Being a non-profit, Bellefontaine’s caretakers needed to maintain a conservative budget, yet wanted to have a regularly supplied newsletter that could touch on notable history, plots and burials, and events concerning the cemetery.
I made a careful choice of recycled paper, of which the color recalled older publications and gave the periodical context. Lovely san-serif fonts added a touch of class. And the touches of green alluded to the natural patina that dotted the monuments within the cemetery itself.
